Cross Country

Every January all classes in the school train with their class teacher during Operation Transformation. We build our fitness levels up to a 1km run at the end of the programme. Class trials then take place for our Cross Country team. 48 children from the school make the team and these children take part in four events from February to May. The children really enjoy this opportunity to compete against many other schools in the South Dublin region. Find out how our children did in their first Cross Country event of the school year here.

Gaelic Football for Girls

Every year we enter a team in the Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic Football competition. The girls really enjoy the competition and love travelling to different parts of Dublin to play other schools. Matches are on Wednesdays after school from September to December. We often play challenge games against local schools and we also take part in football competitions organised by our local club Robert Emmet’s. Read all about how our girls have been doing so far this year here.

Gaelic Football for Boys

We enter our boys’ team in the Cumann na mBunscol competition each year. Boys from 4th, 5th and 6th classes make up the team. Training has begun and takes place on Tuesdays from 2.40- 3.30 on the secondary school pitch with Mr. Murphy. We encourage all children to join the team regardless of previous experience.

Gaelic Football Coaching

We are very lucky to have Gavin, a coach from Robert Emmet’s visiting our school every Friday. Every class gets the opportunity to go to Gaelic football training with Gavin for blocks during the year. The children really enjoy this and we thank Gavin and Robert Emmet’s for all their hard work.

Robert Emmet’s

Robert Emmet’s is our local club and we have enjoyed a great relationship with the club for many years. We encourage all children to join the club or their local club if living outside the Greenhills area. The club often organise fun days for the children and kindly allow us to use their pitch at the Eight Acres for home games.

Every child in the school has the opportunity to attend swimming lessons for 6 weeks with their class in Templeogue Swimming Pool as part of the Aquatics strand in the PE curriculum. The children really enjoy going swimming with their class while also learning an extremely important life skill.
